I had a call with my Urologist to go over the results of my recent scans. I'm happy to say that my cancer is particularly lazy in the go forth and multiply department, the scans returned negative results which is sort of a positive in my book.
For the treatment options I've decided on surgery as waiting just means I would be that much older when I actually had to deal with it and I didn't want to give the cancer an opportunity to get off its ass and make something of itself.
The Urologist recommended that I get a Robotic-Assisted Laparoscopic Prostatectomy. He said it was less invasive than the normal surgery and that a hospital stay would likely be between 24 and 48 hours and post op complications would be much reduced. Honestly however, he had me at "robotic"...
Robots are cool. 🤖
I'm feeling pretty good, all things considered, and this news affords me the indulgence to add a dash of #optimism to my otherwise taciturn stoicism.
I've been injected with radioactive material at the hospital. It is apparently part of some diagnostic test.
There is a part of me however, that is hopefully awaiting the development of some very cool super powers.
Glass half full I say. #Optimisim
Medicine is a morning person it seems. I got two calls today about my follow on appointments for more cancer screening.
My tour dates are tomorrow for a 7AM Bone Scan show and next week for a 7:45 AM performance of CAT Scan, in which I consume a litre of water 1 hour prior to going on stage. But hey, it's for science.
I'm really going to have to talk to my agent to get better stage times. I'd prefer later times because as the Cowboy Junkies have told us "'cause everybody knows that good news always sleeps till noon."
So the results are in and they are not in my favour. The testing that I was subjected to in April has revealed that I'm the proud owner of a prostate cancer (I use italics here because if I using audio, this word would be whispered as has been tradition amongst me people for generations).
I am assured by my urologist that this is not the thing that's going to kill me, however, I am being scheduled for further diagnostic tests to determine the spread. Which will then better determine my odds.
So fun. Right?
Happy Cinco De Mayo everyone!
Please enjoy your celebrations of Mexican history and culture responsibly.
I like Mexican food and beer as much as the next Anglo North American, but the day symbolizes more than just an excuse to party. 🌮 🌯 🍻
I love making screen shots and then running conversions to turn them into paintings which also gives me the #Art fix. Two birds, one icon to click.

In my intro, I included one of my favorite quotes from Walt Kelly’s Pogo. It sums up the human condition in such a pithy way I thought some might like more info on it. The cartoon actually comes from Earth Day, 1970! The link provides a bit more info.
One of the side effects of my procedure last week is that I seem to have lost my appetite for gaming. Haven't booted up a single thing in over 5 days. Who would have thought that the rather too personal inspections of my nether regions would lead to Game Interrupted.
The onslaught of the Covid-19 pandemic kicked my gaming into very high gear. I played a bunch of titles everyday. During the first year I spent a lot of time playing #KerbalSpaceProgram and even wrote some mods for it. My recent gamming focus has been on the #Warhammer Online - Return of Reckoning MMO. In both instances my days started with morning coffee and a round of gaming before the day's meetings started, but now nothing... zilch... nada.
I'm not saying that this is a serious medical emergency, but I need a motivational boost of some kind. Perhaps a little pill that would make it easier to click on the game launcher...
It doesn't even have to be blue.
In times of adversity such as we find our selves in now, it is important to remember that the cause is not lost, it is just beginning.
Freedom should not depend on complying to the forced conformity of a narrowly defined standard of normal.
If #GalaxyQuest has taught us anything, it it this...
I've been threatening to make this since A. A. Milne's work entered the public domain earlier this year. Introducing "Leet Pooh"
Because I think it's hilarious, I've set up a redbubble shop so you can get this nonsense on anything you want.
