So I decided to try culturing my own spores rather than buy a starter. After 24 hours of incubating, I have living Mycelium...!!
Hopefully it will sporulate soon and then I need never buy tempeh again.

@itwasntme I never watched Breaking Bad, not sure what you mean 
@BadgerBadger It did not occur to me that tempeh culture would look like this! I knew it was a culinary mold/fermented product but never considered it might have a “fuzzy” phase.
