The good Salil Tripathi on the #AYODHYAVERDICT
After he was overthrown and ousted from Delhi in 1540, Emperor Humayun and his family sought refuge in Iran. His son Akbar was born on the long journey. The baby, left in the care of attendants for safety, rejoined his parents 3yrs later. Humayun, curious whether Akbar would recognize his mother. Although she entered the court without fanfare, Akbar immediately ran into his mother’s arms. It's heartening to note that SC has referred Aadhaar as Money Bill to a 7 Judge Bench ! In a functional democracy governed under Rule of Law, the government will put hold on expanding the scheme.
But the Thugs will speed up to make it a fait accompli by the time 7 Judge Bench decides on the legality.

I agree 100%. On Twitter as a journalist who already got frequently attacked, I chose my words carefully (barring the occasional angry, dripping with sarcasm tweets that one has to indulge in time and again for sanity).

It's absolutely a feel good moment.

NCRB says they have the right to build National Facial Recognition System because the cabinet says so ignoring the Supreme court judgement on privacy calling for a surveillance law

8. The legal notice said the facial recognition system has "a complete lack of legality” and is “likely to result in the creation of powerful surveillance architecture that will inevitably be prone to misuse." Read the legal notice here. https://internetfreedom.in/maskon/
7. Privacy has been upheld as a "fundamental right" by the Supreme Court. The court has said the invasion in privacy can only be justified if it has (a) a legal basis, (b) a legitimate purpose, and (c) it is proportionate to the need for the purpose. read https://barandbench.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Nariman.pdf
