#Prunus subhirtella (#Sakura, #桜) 'Whitcomb'. Some sources say it was named after David Whitcomb, who found it growing as a volunteer in his Seattle garden in the 1920s and subsequently propagated and distributed it around the north-west coast of North America. It's usually the first to bloom in the park at the end of our street -- they're just beginning now.
